Community heritage charity wins the lottery!

Community Assets Standing Tall (CAST) has been awarded £49,400 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to undertake a two year listing project of Rossendale Heritage assets. CAST members are thrilled this project has been supported by HLF and thank the National Lottery players, who through this grant allow us to undertake this significant piece of work.

Heritage Listing Project

Protection for future generations

Rossendale has many heritage items from pathways to walls, plaques to windows, post boxes to buildings and everything in between that we take for granted. By registering them we will help to protect those things that make Rossendale unique.

Area by area the Rossendale community will be invited to community meetings to explain the project in detail. Including heritage talks that highlights the history that surrounds them and asset management training will provide the knowledge on how to take control of, and look after those assets. For a full list of all events for this project click the link.

The Heritage Assets will be nominated for inclusion on the list by Rossendale residents and businesses area by area. The nominations will be judged by a panel made up from the communities and business in Rossendale who will be guided by the English Heritage grading scale and good old fashioned common sense.

If you would like to take part in the judging panel as a resident, community group or business representative please let us know. You can be part of one, two or all of the judging panels. As a rough guide we expect the meeting to judge to last around two hours depending on the number of nominees.

If you would like to get involved in the project please contact us.

All judging panel meetings will be held at CAST offices in Bacup, preferably late afternoon or early evening within the weeks specified on the right.

This project needs volunteers willing to learn about heritage:

to assist the public in nominating heritage assets
to spread the word about the project to groups in the areas
to man stands at Rossendales' many fairs and fetes
to create an ever changing display of the project and much more

To nominate an asset to go before the judging panel scroll to the bottom of this page.
